- This 1987 Holden Commodore VL Calais Turbo is a neat example of a highly desirable and collectible early Commodore. The Holden VL Calais turbo was one of the most popular the home grown, gentleman's luxury performance sedan of the late 80s. With all of the luxuries and appointment of its European competitors and powered by a smooth, reliable and powerful Nissan sourced engine, the Calais Turbo was the right mix that buyers wanted at the time.
This particular car was built in Holdens Adelaide plant rolling off the production line in September of 1987. The car was finished in Maranello Red with a light grey velour interior and fitted with the LW5 code 3.0L turbo six cyl engine paired to a MS1 four speed automatic transmission.

Starting with the body, the car received a professional repaint in its original colour in 2019. Being a factory Calais, the car is fitted with its Silver lower half trim plastics and pop up eye brow headlight covers. The car sits on its original 15" Calais wheels

Open the door and you will be greeted by a neat factory finish interior. As a Calais model, it comes equipped with luxury features such as power windows, air conditioning, and plush interior materials. The stereo system has been upgraded with a modern head unit.

Under the bonnet is a neatly presented engine bay housing a 3.0L turbocharged six cyl engine. The original block has been replaced at some stage in its life with a non-turbo RB30 block but refitted with the factory turbo gear. The engine is paired to its original four speed automatic transmission. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a Borg Warner differential.
